Personality Disorder
Personality disorders are frequently misdiagnosed in LGBTQ+ people. Outspace takes a careful, affirming approach that distinguishes clinical need from reasonable responses to difficult circumstances.
Most patients pay less than $30 per appointment.
What is Personality Disorders?
Personality disorders are pervasive patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving that cause significant distress or impairment. Borderline personality disorder (BPD), involving emotional dysregulation and fear of abandonment, is among the most commonly treated. Personality disorders can be misunderstood, but treatment works.
How it affects LGBTQ+ people
BPD is frequently over-diagnosed in LGBTQ+ people when providers pathologize identity exploration or emotional responses to discrimination. At the same time, genuine BPD can be missed. LGBTQ+ patients deserve accurate assessment from clinicians who know the difference.
Our treatment approach
Outspace manages medication for co-occurring symptoms such as mood instability, anxiety, and depression. We coordinate closely with DBT-trained therapists, since DBT is the evidence-based treatment for BPD.

Therapy is often the first brave step toward healing—and I’m so proud of you for starting on that path. I believe deeply in the power of being seen, heard, and understood, especially in moments when life feels heavy, messy, or uncertain.

I work best with clients who are feeling stuck—like something in life has shifted, and the tools that once worked just aren’t cutting it anymore. My ideal client is one who is going through a challenge in life that is causing them to feel stuck or regress in everyday functioning.

We conduct a thorough, collaborative evaluation and explain our clinical reasoning. We do not apply diagnoses carelessly.
-
Not necessarily. Being told you are too emotional as a queer person often reflects the listener's limitations, not a diagnosis. We evaluate carefully rather than accepting that framing.
