Abilify

(Aripiprazole)

Abilify is an atypical antipsychotic that partially activates dopamine receptors rather than simply blocking them. It is used for bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and as an add-on for depression, and is generally better tolerated than older antipsychotics.

Most patients pay less than $20 per appointment.

Abilify is often chosen when weight gain or sedation from other antipsychotics is a concern. Its unique mechanism — partial agonism at dopamine receptors — gives it a different side effect profile compared to most antipsychotics, making it well-suited to long-term use.
